The Man Who Fell to Earth - UK (1976), directed by Nicolas Roeg from a novel by Walter Tevis. A visitor (David Bowie) from another planet, who comes to Earth to get water for his dying planet. He tries to colonise Earth, but his powers are destroyed and he ends up an alcoholic cripple.
