French twentieth century composer Georges Auric (1899-1983) was the youngest member of Les Six with Durey, Honegger, Milhaud, Tailleferre, and Poulenc. First acclaim came with his music for Les fâcheux (The Bores), a ballet based on Molière. He scored several films for French poet Jean Cocteau, including La belle et la bête (Beauty and the Beast) and Orphée (Orpheus). American films credits include Moulin Rouge and Roman Holiday.
