Italian Baroque composer Giovanni Battista Bononcini (1670-1747), the son of composer Giovanni Maria Bononcini, trained as a cellist. He wrote in a variety of genres, and had the first Italian opera widely accepted in British theaters. At different times, he worked in Bolagna, Milan, Vienna, London, Paris, and Lisbon.
