German Romantic period composer August Joseph Norbert Burgmüller (1810-1836) is considered the most accomplished member of a musical family that included father Johann August Franz and brother Friedrich. Mendelssohn and Schumann were friends and admirers of his work. Schumann compared Norbert's short but talented life to that of Schubert. Noted works include the piano piece Rhapsody in B minor and the String Quartet in A minor.
