Herrmann, BernardWeb Directory

American composer and conductor Bernard Herrmann (1911-1975) is considered by some to be the single greatest film composer ever. While others might argue, few besides him have had videos made about their work (Music for the Movies: Bernard Herrmann). His list of memorable scores began with Orson Welles' radio broadcast of War of the Worlds, leading to one of the most lauded movies of all time, 1941's Citizen Kane. It includes Hitchcock movies such as Psycho, Vertigo, and North by Northwest, as well as Hitchcock's television series. Other films include The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit, the original Cape Fear, and Taxi Driver. He scored dozens of other movies, and numerous television series and specials, including The Twilight Zone and Lost in Space.
