Italian composer Ildebrando Pizzetti (1880-1968) often misses credit for his accomplishments, becoming marginalized because of his tendency toward traditional music during the changes of the 20th Century. Nevertheless, he wrote excellent music in a number of genres and styles, including operatic, orchestral, vocal, and chamber music. Pizzetti also receives credit as teacher of many other fine composers. He is sometimes called Ildebrando da Parma in honor of his birthplace.
