Although he composed a significant body of "serious" classical music, English Romantic period composer Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan (1842-1900) is most known for his music in a series of operettas produced in collaboration with Sir William Schwenck Gilbert. Sullivan also wrote hymns, ballads, an opera, art and popular songs, and other works.
