Egyptian actor who became an international star after appearing in David Lean's epic, 'Lawrence of Arabia.' Sharif earned a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for the role. He is best known for his performances in "Dr. Zhivago" (1965) and "Funny Girl" (1968).
