John Thaw - English actor, born 3rd January 1942, Manchester, died 21st February 2002, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, after losing his battle against cancer. Appeared in many TV roles, but is probably best remembered for playing Det. Inspector Regan in the popular TV police series The Sweeney (1974), and as Inspector Morse (1987).
