Convicted thief Darien Fawkes has been implanted with a gland that secretes a substance he can use to make himself invisible. But it also can't be removed without killing him, and homicidal psychosis is one of its side-effects; he's forced to work as a government agent in order to secure a supply of medication that keeps him sane and alive.
