RiggingWeb Directory

Theatrical rigging is the system of ropes, chains, cables, counterweights, pulleys and motors that move and control objects that are suspended overhead on stage. Theatre rigging technology and practices have their roots in sailing ship rigging. Because it deals with lifting objects above performers' heads, and sometimes lifting the performers themselves, professional rigging is highly formalized and safety is a prime concern.
