FVWM stands for "F Virtual Window Manager" (The F currently has no official meaning). It is a window manager for the X Window System. It was based on TWM (Tabbed Window Manager), but added support for Virtual Screens, making it more powerful. FVWM has evolved into a highly configurable environment for Unix-like systems.
