The Vision of Escaflowne is an other world anime in the traditions of The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland. Hitomi, the main character, finds herself transported to the mystical world of Gaia, where she must help the young prince Van and the handsome knight Allen fight against the looming armies of Zaibach, the seemingly evil empire. The series has humor, romance, action, and drama rolled into one package.
