A Buddhist pilgrimage should go to areas that are special to Buddhists. It is more than a New Age feel good trip. Meditation or actual religious services and activities are part of traditional pilgrimage. For instance, all over Asia, Buddhists travel to certain temples or monasteries to prostrate or light candles and chant. These places may be areas the Buddha visited or monasteries where famous Buddhist teachers taught, etc. To be a real pilgrimage I think a Buddhist teacher should lead the trip and educate the participants. I have been on many retreats and pilgrimages in Asia, Tibet, Nepal, Thailand, and a pilgrimage is a lot more that just a new age trip.
