The District Maharajganj came into existence on 2nd October, 1989. This newly created district is situated at the border with Nepal. Its boundaries touch Nepal in north, Gorakhpur district in south, Padrauna district in east and Siddharth Nagar and Sant Kabir Nagar districts in west.
