Located in the departamento of Sacatepequez. Also known as Antigua Guatemala, the city was the Spanish colonial capital of Central America. Today it is a UNESCO Heritage site, with well-preserved homes and church buildings from that era. It is noted for large Easter celebrations, including parades along routes of colorful "carpets" made from sawdust.
