The rural municipality of Salme (Estonian: Salme vald) is located west of Kuressaare and covers the northern half of Sõrve Peninsula. It has a total area of approximately 115 square kilometers and around 1,300 inhabitants. Salme rural municipality has 24 villages (Estonian: külad): Anseküla, Easte, Hindu, Imara, Järve, Kaimri, Kaugatoma, Lahetaguse, Lassi, Lõmala, Lõu, Länga, Läätsa, Metsalõuka, Mõisaküla, Möldri, Rahuste, Suurna, Tehumardi, Tiirimetsa, Toomalõuka, Ula, Vintri, and Üüdibe.
