Slapton, population 420, is a parish administerd by South Hams District Council, which stretches into Start Bay, west of Strete, south of Blackawton, east of EastĀ Allington and north of Stokenham. The village is protected from high sea levels by a barrier, from Torcross northwards to Strete, which separates the salt marshes of Slapton Ley from Slapton Sands.
