Carisbrooke is a large village on the south western outskirts of Newport. Bowcombe is a nearby hamlet to the south west. Carisbrooke is separated from Newport by a strip of open fields to the west of Carisbrooke Road (B3323) south of Petticoat Lane, following and including Kilbridge Road, Hinton Road, and Wellington Road, then crossing Carisbrooke Road and Castle Road to follow Linden Road to cut the B3401 (Whitepit Lane) and then circling around the south of the castle to the west. It thus includes all the built up area north of Carisbrooke proper including Gunville.
