Douglas Richard Hurd, Baron Hurd of Westwell, CH, CBE, PC (born 8 March 1930), is a senior British Conservative politician and novelist. Member of Parliament for Mid Oxfordshire (Feb 1974–1983) and Member of Parliament for Witney (1983–1997). He served in the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Also known as a writer of political thrillers.
