Damascus

Damascus (commonly known as ash-Shām also known as City of Jasmin‎) is the capital and largest city of Syria. It is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world and its current population is estimated at about 1,669,000. The city is a governorate by itself, and the capital of the governorate of Rif Dimashq ("Rural Damascus").
