Canada's first Governor General, Sir Charles Stanley Monck, 4th Viscount Monck (born 10 October, 1819, Templemore, Ireland; died 29 November, 1894) served from 1 July 1867 until 14 November, 1868, as well as having served as Governor of British North America before confederation from 1861.
