Laboratory programs are divided amongst the various high-level funding organizations tasked with supporting the overall mission of the Laboratory. Some of these directorates support the research programs directly, e.g. physics, biology, and similar disciplines. Others provide the technical base for achieving research goals, like engineering, computation, and chemistry.
