Historically distributed across most of Africa, but now an endangered species with only a few thousand individuals in total, found primarily in areas of southern Africa (northern Botswana, north-east Namibia, western and northern Zimbabwe, southern Tanzania and the Kruger National Park in South Africa, as well as Kafue National Park and Luanga Valley, Zambia).
