Household Cavalry regiments are the most elite mounted regiments in the Commonwealth of Nations, and are directly attached to the Head of State, Monarch, or Viceroy. Today, all Household Cavalry regiments are now armoured cavalry regiments, although most retain some ceremonial horse cavalry element.
