Former us national security adviser John Bolton said that Donald trump ordered the Finance Minister to stop BTC trading back in 2018.
According to the forthcoming book John Bolton (John Bolton), the former national security adviser to the US President, Donald trump (Donald Trump) in may 2018 ordered Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin (Steven Mnuchin) to fight bitcoin trading.
the Washington Examiner, which received the forthcoming manuscript, John Bolton quoted in his book “The Room Where It Happened” the words that the US President allegedly said to Steven Mnuchin:
“Don’t participate in trade negotiations. Root out bitcoin as it is a Scam.” As Bolton writes, the Finance Minister responded: “If you don’t want me to trade, well, your economic team will do whatever you want.”
Bolton claims that this dialogue took place as part of a tense conversation about upcoming trade sanctions against China in may 2018.
The trump administration has long been skeptical of cryptocurrencies, and earlier this year, the us Treasury Department said it was preparing to introduce new rules for regulating cryptocurrencies.
“We want to be sure that the technology is moving forward, but on the other hand, we don’t want cryptocurrencies to become the equivalent of good old secret accounts in Switzerland,” he said
Mnuchin in February.
On Tuesday, the us Department of justice filed
the lawsuit against John Bolton and asked the judge to ban the release of the book, scheduled for June 23, because it contains classified materials.
