The Creator of the Ethereum wallet MyEtherWallet (MEW) believes that the full deployment of Ethereum 2.0 should not be expected until 2022.
The founder of MyEtherWallet, Kosala Hemachandra, said in an interview that the zero phase of the update was originally planned for January 2020, but was later postponed to November 4. This will only happen if the test network, which will be launched on August 4, is successfully functioning, if certain conditions are met.
Earlier, the leading developer of Ethereum 2.0, Justin Drake, stated that the launch of the zero stage of Ethereum 2.0 may be delayed until next year. According to Vitalik Buterin, this should be done much earlier. Hemachandra believes that even if the launch of the zero phase takes place this year, the full deployment of the update may take several more years.
“In recent days, everyone is focused on the signal chain (Beacon Chain) based on consensus PoS, and this will be the first step towards Ethereum 2.0. I am sure we will see the Beacon Chain as early as this year,” said the Creator of MEW.
He stressed that the developers chose the right strategy, applying a cautious approach to the launch of Ethereum 2.0. When it comes to user funds and an unchangeable blockchain, it will take time to update, and this expectation will be justified. According to Hemachandra, the update will change the concept of blockchain, creating a secure and sustainable system that can compete with centralized scaling solutions.
However, in the spring, the co-founder of Ethereum and the founder of IOHK, Charles Hoskinson, said that plans for the development of Ethereum are too optimistic. At the same time, Hoskinson still considers Ethereum the main competitor of Cardano.
