Canadian port operator joins TradeLens blockchain platform

North American container terminal operator Global Container Terminals (GCT) has announced that it is joining the TradeLens blockchain platform developed by IBM and Maersk.

GCT operates Canada’s largest marine container terminal, GCT Deltaport, GCT Vanterm, GCT Bayonne and GCT New York. The company’s canadian division, located in Vancouver, will deploy a blockchain system for all four container terminals.

TradeLens will improve the transparency of cargo transit and track supply chains on the East and West coasts of North America. The platform connects all participants in the supply chain, including ocean freight carriers, cargo owners, and rail carriers.

We remind you that the TradeLens platform was launched in August last year. At the moment, the ports of Valencia, Algeciras and Saint Petersburg, as well as the Hong Kong container terminal operator and shipping companies MSC and CMA CGM are already connected to the system.
