The Tax Service of Canada has requested full information about users of the Coinsquare cryptocurrency exchange who have registered on the platform since the beginning of 2013.
According to the local edition of the National Post, the tax office of Canada requested information and certain documents about the customers of the Coinsquare trading platform who have registered since the beginning of 2013. The request for information was submitted to the court. At the moment, Coinsquare, registered in Toronto, is evaluating possible options.
“Coinsquare provides a robust customer verification process. Our customers comply with all Canadian laws governing cryptocurrency trading, ” said Stacy Hoisak, CEO of the exchange.
Note that a similar request was made by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in relation to the Coinbase exchange. The court ordered the cryptocurrency exchange to transfer to the IRS data on the platform’s customers who traded cryptocurrencies in the period from 2013 to 2015. The IRS recently introduced updated guidelines for reporting cryptocurrency transactions.
