American composer and lyricist Frank Henry Loesser (1910-1969) worked many years in Hollywood but is best known for the musicals Guys and Dolls and How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying. His first major success was the Tin Pan Alley tune "Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition."
