Tcherepnin, Alexander Nicolaievich

The son of Romantic composer Nicolai, Alexander Tcherepnin (1899-1977) continued the family tradition. Although he was born in St. Petersburg and died in Paris, Alexander is normally considered to be an American composer. He wrote operas, ballets, symphonies, and other works, and was often influenced by Oriental and Georgian folk music.
