Tomlinson, Ernest

Composer, conductor, organist, and musicologist--Ernest Tomlinson (1924-) was all of these at one time or another. Convinced that one must be part of the music he writes, Tomlinson would regularly take the baton to direct his own or someone else's music. He fused jazz and classical, bringing the first performance of such to Moscow. Working with Marco Polo Records, he championed other British composers' Light Music works.
