South Yorkshire is an inland county, bordered by Derbyshire, West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. It was formed of the southern part of the old West Riding of Yorkshire. The western part of the county forms part of the Peak District National Park. Population: 1,266,338 (2001 est.)
