Hely-Hutchinson, Christian Victor

South African-born composer Christian Victor Hely-Hutchinson (1901-1947), after conquering his childhood temper, became an outstanding pianist as well as accompanist, orchestrator, academic, reviewer, administrator, and conductor. Despite his early death, due to pneumonia, he left behind over 150 works. He spent his later years busy with many projects, including the directorship of music for the BBC.
