Red Flag Software Co., Ltd., a fast-growing firm, makes several Linux distributions and products: Red Flag Linux, Red Flag Linux Desktop, Red Flag Cluster Server, and Red Flag Webmail Server. It was cofounded in June 2000, as a joint venture between the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISCAS), and government-owned Shanghai NewMargin Venture Capital. Jiang Mianheng, son of former Chinese president Jiang Zemin, plays a prominent role in Red Flag management. The firm is partnering with many Western firms.
