Kajukenbo was created in Hawai by a small group called the Black Belt Society. These were all martial artist with different backgrounds. They devised their own system. Adriano Emperado(Kenpo) Peter Choo(Boxing/Tang Soo Do) Frank Ordonezwas(Jujitsu) Joe Hlock(Judo) Clarence Chang(Kung Fu) The name stands for Ka(karate)ju(jujitsu/judo)ken(kenpo)bo(chinese boxing/kung fu). They decided the make Kenpo the base system for the new one.
