Fort Erie lies at the beginning of the Niagara River, which connects Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The QEW ends here at the Peace Bridge, which takes travellers across to Buffalo. It is home to some popular bingo halls and a long established racetrack that now includes slot machines for people interested in trying their luck. The communities of Ridgeway, Crystal Beach, and Stevensville fall under Fort Erie's municipal jurisdiction. Although its sites are at present limited to a single category, their numbers are expected to grow and justify the creation of appropriate subcategories.
